Dr. Augustus Blend specialized in understanding consciousness. He studied neurological connections through brains both in animals and humans. Under his government project, he was to clone animals and humans without consciousness. His job was to make biological containers. Within a decade, his contract ended, and he was "unsuccessful" (but not in private). The entire time, he had been practicing in his lab at home. Having connections through his riches and through people he'd networked with, The Doc exploited his top-secret clearance and gathered specimens of a vampire lord, a mythical Egyptian goddess, an alien from a 1960s UFO crash, and a Jamaican witch doctor. He discovered how to blend the DNA of these origins, creating more demigod-like beasts. He created his final masterpiece, Brune, and named the entire party The Blend Seven. After the creation of Brune, Augustus had full intentions of becoming a self-declared superhero but was forced to do it for real once he secured the process of transferring his consciousness into one of the blend seven. His human body died, not being programmed to exist without a conscious. That wasn't planned.
