Shattered glass flew from an inner balcony of the factory and rained on running figures below. Clouds of fire and explosions followed, flinging bodies from the lab on the second story to the first floor. A transmorphing had gone wrong. Revendra, once a CryptSight, underwent the Amalgafication process the quick way. Since Crypts would lose their bio-technological advantages if they transferred their consciousness into a hybrid clone, the alternative was to accept an injection that would alter every cell in one's body at once. Revendra didn't take to the process kindly.
Weeks prior, she illegally sent a probe with a message to an Amalgafied ground force from her vessel in space. They took her offer to join them and abandon her citizenship as a Crypt. As a "cyborg" person, she had already turned off her programmed remote tracking to the Cryptic Government. Before communicating with the Amalgafied, she had already been considered a pirate.
Days went by as paperwork was filled out, blood samples were taken, and interviews were conducted. The Amalgafication injection was fully synthetic and had to be synchronized to her body. Samples of her DNA were taken, and the infusion was concocted from it. Since the Amalgafied Government was in charge of the procedure, they chose a race type for her.
She was to become a bear-based human hybrid and the twenty-seventh Demimorph to ever exist. The doctors and advisors suggested a bear because it was a mammal, making it easier to pair with her human DNA. That was the only reason besides the fact that they hadn't chosen to blend a bear with a human yet. They'd been sticking to mammal-based injections to lessen the risk of something going wrong.
The injection called a morph shot, alters nearly every cell in its host's body. Rather than doing this over a slow and painful process, it's done all at once. The process is excruciating, so patients are put under for it. This patient woke up during the process, which had never happened before.
The shot did what it was intended to do - simultaneously morphing every cell in the CryptSight's body. The failure in the process occurred when she didn't stay under. The anesthesia had less effect as her body started to undergo the process. Eventually, she half-broke from the slumber midway through the morphing process.
Instinct took precedence over reason when the pain was the only thing she felt. The sensation took over all aspects of her being as she felt every cell in her body rip in half, duplicate, and morph to become larger and different. It was a horrific sight to see for those who experienced her rampage. Some doctors got the brunt of her tantrum while she still looked like a horrendous human. Others died trying to defend themselves from a full-fledged beast.
The process began normally with the Crypt patient lying on a table in a lab room. She was tied down just in case and was fast asleep under anesthesia. The injection was given through a gun-like object, and then the doctors cleared the room to watch the process through glass windows. Guards, which were mechanoids armed with rifles, were at the door. Seemingly, at first, the body began to change with no issue.
Then, without notice, the body started to jolt awake. The patient's heart rate increased, and her hands began to ball in a fist. One by one, the straps holding the woman-beast down popped its fasten. The bot guards immediately entered the room to stun the patient or kill her if things went south. Revendra didn't give them the opportunity.
As a bot walked up to the now half-bear-woman and took aim, the beast grabbed the barrel of the rifle and pulled it toward her. The bot jerked forward, and the beast's free paw caught its head. With a single, one-handed squeeze, the bot's head imploded, and oil leaked down the bear's fuzzy arm. The bot's arms dropped as its core systems powered down. It involuntarily shot the ground a few times before the bear flung it like a ragdoll toward its companion. The remaining guard fell on its back, rifle flying.
The she-beast roared as she left the bed and ran on all fours toward her victim. The bot did everything possible to shuffle to its feet on time but was trapped under its fallen comrade. The bear didn't hesitate to clap its hands together with the guard's head between. Like a popped watermelon, juices squirted all over the face of the bear. She took no pride in her kill as she bellowed out in pain.
The laboratory staff did nothing but stare silently at their distressed patient. They were shocked and were already no match for the beast's might. As a guard called for backup, the sealed door burst. What was once the door on hinges flew across the observatory room to the other side and hit the opposing wall, still standing up. It never fell as it got stuck slightly going into the wall.
The guard making the call stared at the door stuck in the wall and went to turn her head around. Before she could, she was lifted off her feet by the neck. While in a chokehold, she desperately looked around. Two of her other companions had already been sliced through. Finally, her eyes met her attacker's. With a wrist twist, the beast ensured the guard was no more.
Revendra wreaked havoc for another three minutes before someone finally activated the alarm. The building went into lockdown mode, sealing many Amalgafied in with their experiment gone wrong. The Crypt had only undergone the process for an hour and a half, and there was still over an hour to go. The pain made it unbearable for the true Revendra to think. It was so intolerable that she didn't know she was awake. Out of shock, her body put her in a hibernation-half-sleep state.
Blood splatter littered the walls as she galloped on all fours down the 2nd-floor balcony. There were three floors altogether, and the second was now utterly ransacked. She made her way to the bottom floor towards a large, defenseless group huddled by a glass wall with an exit door in the distance. As she approached the potential slaughter zone, a squadron of armed bots cut her off. They came out of a room hidden to the side.
They cut her path a little too close, not giving themselves enough time to bring down their target. Through blares of the alarm, automatic gunshots filled the air, which pelted the bear with six bullets up the mid-chest. The bear's eyes widened in pain. That didn't kill it, but now it was in more agony, and it was more pissed off.
With a backhanded slash, the bear launched the closest bot. It sliced into pieces midair and clattered onto the floor. With great speed, Revendra finished off the remaining bots without any of the rest letting off a shot. She turned her attention again toward the huddled crowd. Her gaze at them alone had some shrieking in fear.
She made a full gallop to them, slobber dripping as she ran. Blood and oil dripped on the floor from her chest and face, leaving a trail. With every stride, she made frustrated, deep grunts. The crowd shrieked in fear as they accepted their doom, but just as they took in their fate, a swallow flew into view behind the glass wall. The dropship was facing the beast head-on and was hovering a few hundred feet from the front three-story-high pane of glass. It had mounted turrets under each wing, and the heads started to spin.
Some crowd members between the two forces got the memo as onlookers at the ship yelled to move to either side. The scientists, doctors, and all the others in the group did just that. The swallow held off releasing its rain of bullets until the last person cleared from view. At that point, the bear had almost reached the door and nearly chased the remaining person. The swallow pelted the beast with bullets, which also caused a shower of broken glass.
The pilot in the swallow let the ship's computer shower the spot with bullets until the gun heads overheated. When the smoke cleared from the air and the foreground came into view again, the aviator noticed the beast was no longer there. There was only a shallow pool of blood where it had been and some fur.
The mass of unarmed military civilians had split in two, one on each side of the door. They were safe, at least for now, but the beast was nowhere to be found. Silence encompassed the scene except for some remaining pieces of glass falling. The pilot and his autonomous ship were confused and kept scanning the area. Since the vessel was wiser than its driver, it was allowed complete control.
Human intervention would've helped in this case because the ship didn't have the instinct to look up at the rooftop of the building. That's precisely where its target had gone. The pilot witnessed a deep, muffled roar from above as the ship performed scans of the second floor about 30 feet away. Revendra ran full speed and dove off the roof of the building to attack the swallow.
At this point, Revendra had become what was initially intended, but the shock had struck her instincts when reality kicked in and when the anesthesia wore off. The aggression in her mind did not settle down, and it was not calmed by progressing pain. She was now a full-fledged bear-humanoid who stood over 12 feet tall. She was fully bipedal when she did a running jump off the roof. The prior rain of bullets allowed her body to morph as quickly as it could, using what was left of the injected substance. Luckily for her, her body healed during that process, but her rage did not subside.
She landed on the swallow's top above the cockpit. From the sudden impact of her weight, the swallow dipped down to the side a little. The ship weaved in the air as its computer system tried to regain control. While that was happening, the now Amalgafied bear punched through the windshield and pulled out the pilot one-handed.
It was a Leogin pilot, and he kicked his feet in the air as his body dangled helplessly in her grip. Without hesitation or remorse, she bit through her victim's throat. The audience ground-level let out cries of horror as Revendra threw his body backward toward them. He was left limp, lying in a puddle of his blood. Then she swung her body from one wing of the craft to the other, throwing it completely off balance. It spun out of control as she suddenly let go and dropped toward the ground.
As she landed on the ground, the swallow crashed a distance away behind her, exploding violently. Her yellow eyes gleaned further with rage as flames reflected off them. Many people had run from the building out of blown-apart walls, but some remained inside. As a few more Amalgafied tried to squeeze their way through the wreckage, she charged forward and roared, forcing them back.
She pushed her way inside and cornered a group of scientists. She raised a paw, gearing to strike and end their lives. In fear, they shielded their faces with their arms, preparing to die. But then, suddenly, Revendra's pupils dilated wide and went glossy. A deep exhale came from her nostrils right into the face of her almost prey. She fell to the side, completely losing all motor control.
"She's dead," one of the scientists said after examining her pulse.
It was discovered later that the Crypts pushed an update to their OS right at that exact moment during this unknown fight (to them). That update was programmed to compel the host's AI to terminate them if they were morphed. They failed to keep their experiments secret from the Cryptic Government, and it turned out that was lucky for them.
